E435 Polysorbate 60, Tween 60, Monostéarate de sorbitane polyoxyéthylène
Polysorbates (E432 - E436) are synthetic additives made from sorbitol (E420). They are effective emulsifiers used in dairy products, coconut milk, soups, sauces and food supplements. Various studies, carried out on mice, suggest that the consumption of these additives could increase the permeability of the intestinal barrier and thus promote chronic inflammatory bowel disease, increased adiposity (metabolic syndrome) and the development of diabetes. These additives could also disturb the balance of the intestinal flora, promoting autoimmune reactions. The chronic intestinal inflammation caused by these emulsifiers could finally promote the development of colon cancer.
